There is no single minimum order quantity for promotional products. The relevant minimum belongs to a specific product, decoration method and production route. A stock item with a simple imprint can have a different minimum from a custom-color version of the same general product.

What sets a minimum order quantity

• Product configuration: stock colors and standard sizes may use different production rules from custom colors, shapes or materials.
• Decoration setup: screens, embroidery files, print fixtures and other setup steps can establish an economic or technical minimum.
• Packaging: individual boxes, inserts and assembled kits can have their own batch requirements.
• Supplier and production method: similar-looking products can come from different factories with different minimums.
• Current availability: a nominal minimum does not mean that the requested color and quantity are currently available.

How to read quantity pricing on a product page

When a page shows several quantity tiers, each tier is planning information for that product. The first tier is not a universal store minimum, and the lowest displayed number should not be assumed to include every decoration, setup or freight requirement.

Use the table to compare unit-price direction, then request confirmation for the exact quantity and artwork. If the required quantity falls between tiers, include it in the inquiry rather than rounding it without explanation.

What to do when the desired quantity is below the listed tier

Ask whether a different decoration method, stock color or related product can support the smaller run. The answer may be a different product rather than an exception to the original product's production rules. A sample is also not the same thing as a production order; sample availability and sample pricing should be confirmed separately.

A better way to compare minimums

Send the same brief for each candidate: item number, desired quantity, logo, number of imprint locations, destination and in-hand date. That produces a meaningful comparison. Comparing a blank-item minimum on one page with a decorated minimum on another can lead to the wrong conclusion.

Questions to include in the inquiry

• Is the quoted minimum for the product, the decoration or both?
• Does the minimum apply per color, size, design or shipping destination?
• Can sizes or colors be mixed within the quantity?
• What changes if the order uses another decoration method?
• Are proofs, setup, packaging and freight included or separate?
